Mines Restoration Limited has continued with muck-shift and soils recovery across the whole of the north face of the overburden mound at Powharnal, with tipping taking place north-west of the void area. Landscaping of this area is due to be completed by the end of 2018.
The southern face of the overburden mound has been substantially reduced and the restoration of the south-east corner of the void is due to be completed by late summer.
All major muck-shift activity is due to be completed by early 2019.
Monthly compliance meetings are held alongside periodic technical working group meetings and community liaison gatherings. No complaints have been received and environmental compliance is being demonstrated.
The next major step will be the submission of a landscape plan, together with planting and access details.
